This section describes the Plesk options that provide you with opportunities of managing databes servers used by the control panel. If you have a database of a certain type installed, and you have the license to use this type of databases, then the corresponding controls for adjusting access parameters and for access to the database administrative tools will be available.
Setting Up And Editing Database Administrator's ConnectionIf a database server is installed by the Plesk setup program, all the database admin's connection settings are automatically detected by the control panel. You may want to change an administrator's password generated by the installer to one that suits you best (see below). If you set up the admin's connection to a database server installed separately from the control panel, follow these steps: Click the Databases icon on the Server administration page. Go to the page corresponding to the required database type by clicking on the Microsoft SQL Server or the MySQL tab respectively. Type the database server name in the Server name input field and specify server administrator's login and password in the respective fields It is strongly recommended not to enter the value for MySQL server port equal to 8306, as it is used by Plesk for communication with its internal database. Click OK to submit.
To change the database server connection settings, type in the new database server name (and/or port for MySQL server) and/or new administrator's login. To change the administrator's password for the existing connection, click on the Change Password button, on the page that opens type a new password in the New password and Confirm password fields, and click OK button to submit. Accessing Database Administration ToolsTo access Web based database administration tools with admin's priveleges, follow these steps: Click the Databases icon on the Server administration page. Go to the page corresponding to the required database type by clicking on the Microsoft SQL Server or the MySQL tab respectively. Click the MS SQL RootWebAdmin button on the Microsoft SQL Server tab, or the MySQL RootWebAdmin button on the MySQL tab.
